CWF recipient recognizes the Legion's generosity

The American Legion Child Welfare Foundation is the proud recipient of the Immune Deficiency Foundation (IDF) Impact Award "in gratitude" for the "many years of commitment and contributions" to IDF. CWF board of director member Herbert Petite, Jr. accepted the award on behalf of the Legion during IDF's national conference in New Orleans on June 26.

“The grants we have received from the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation were absolutely essential in the formation of IDF," said Marcia Boyle, IDF president and founder, during the award presentation. "Without their support, I truly don’t know whether we could have achieved the structure we needed for a rare disease national patient organization.”

IDF received its first CWF grant in 1981, which helped the newly formed organization develop the first educational materials in the world for patients with primary immunodeficiency diseases. Since then, additional CWF grants have enabled IDF to produce a video, release two children's books, "Our Immune System" and "A Zebra Tale," and create the first edition of its School Guide.

"On our 35th anniversary, we are tremendously grateful to The American Legion for their kind and generous support, and we hope they feel a sense of satisfaction about the positive impact they have made on individuals with primary immune deficiency diseases," Boyle said.
