Commander Helm sends message of sympathy to Vice President Biden

American Legion National Commander Michael D. Helm expressed sympathy Sunday after Joseph R. "Beau" Biden III passed away Saturday at age 46 following a battle with brain cancer.

"On behalf of the nation's largest veterans service organization, I extend heartfelt condolences to the family of U.S. Vice President Joe Biden after the loss of his son Beau," Helm said. "Beau Biden's service to our country as an officer in the National Guard, and as a veteran of the war in Iraq, is deeply appreciated as we share in his family's grief and remembrance of him."
