Commander to march in Alabama's Veterans Day parade

American Legion National Commander Charles E. Schmidt will be marching alongside Department of Alabama Legion family members in the National Veterans Day Parade in downtown Birmingham on Nov. 11.

The parade begins at 1:30 p.m. at 18th St. and 8th Ave., and nearly 4,000 participants are expected. Schmidt will also attend the World Peace Luncheon prior to the start of the parade, and speak at the National Veterans Award Dinner on Nov. 10. Learn more about the parade here.

During his visit to the Department of Alabama, Schmidt will visit several posts and help present an Operation Comfort Warriors donation to the Tuscaloosa VA Medical Center.
