Now that May is upon us, the Samsung American Legion Scholarship application deadline is quickly approaching. Eligible applicants must submit an application either upon arrival to or after participation in an American Legion Boys State or Auxiliary Girls State program — two programs that get under way on May 26.
The Samsung scholarship is available for high school juniors who complete the Boys State or Girls State program and are direct descendants (or legally adopted children) of wartime veterans eligible for American Legion membership. The scholarship awards up to $20,000 for undergraduate studies (e.g., room and board, tuition and books), and each applicant is selected according to his or her school and community activities, academic record and financial need.
Students who qualify for and are interested in the Samsung scholarship should contact their American Legion Boys State or Girls State program director to determine the deadline and procedure for submitting an application. Applications submitted passed the specified deadline will not be considered.
