Does anyone believe these "amateur hour" people in this administration can actually pull off a successful end to this mess? All they are after is cover so they can pretend they accomplished something good.
Of course none of us want the war to keep on going. But remember what the Taliban stands for. Women have no rights. Also, anyone who does not believe in what they believe in, is an infidel. When the Taliban had control over their country they would not hand over Osama Bin Ladin. Now, trading 5000 Taliban prisoners for 1000 Afgan prisoners is showing how weak our current President and his inept leadership is, just to try and say they got something done. Once the U.S. is out, the Taliban will do just as the Syrians are doing to their country, thanks to Trump pulling the troops out against the advice of our Military Leaders. The thousands of lives lost and over 40,000 seriously injured, will send a message back home that our troops will have served for nothing, except a Trump Public Relations maneuver. Remember Trump said on Fox News, "he knows more than the Generals do and he is the best President in the history of the U.S." As a Viet Nam vet, I am saddened in all the sacrifices our armed forces men and women have given over the years to have us give in to the likes of the Taliban.
Sign a deal and bring Americans home. Stop WASTING American blood and treasure trying to stabilize Afghanistan. We can't be successful in a hundred years. The only strategic consideration to plan for is the ability to rapidly go back and bomb the country back into the the Middle Ages (which for all intents and purposes they are presently in, with the exception of cell phones), if the Taliban allows a terrorist organization to set up base to attack the U.S or or our closest allies.
As you lay wounded on the Afghan plains,
and the women come to pick your remains.
Go to your rifle, and blow out your brains,
and got to your God like a soldier.
Betray your allies, pretend you are drawing down as you actually add more troops sending them to protect the oil fields until you can "fake" a ceasefire long enough to leave the oilfields in control to your buddy Putin for the opportunity to build your tower of Babylon soiled by sacrifices and blood of our warriors and allies who believed in us only to be betrayed by the most corrupt and incompetent administration this country has ever seen.
The US has no right to mess with how foreign countries operate. Sticking our nose into Iraq, Syria, Iran, was a mistake. Those that have been killed or wounded in these misadventures were wasted if you ask me. Bush lied, there was no yellow cake, Cheney was wrong and I believe a draft dodger, and Israel's motives are behind these failures.
