I think if Trump is taking it, then he's an idiot.

That's what you get for thinking! one doctor count it 1 one treated over 900 people successfully! others countries are also using it with excellent results...don't be so freaking quick to be brainwashed by dumocraps, Communist News Network, ABC, NBC, MSNBC etc! think for yourself and DO SOME DAMNED RESEARCH!! imho

Trump Derangement Syndrome will soon be recognized as an treatable condition. Covered 100%

First and foremost it is an unproven drug for Covid-19 and dangerous to users. Especially that it has proven side effects of causing heart problems. The majority of folks using the VA are older folks and certainly should not be given this drug. They have enough on their plate as it is.
If I come down with Covid-19 I will refuse to take this as a treatment.
Our President is out of his mind for advocating for this drug.
His own medical professionals say it is non effective a dangerous.

You couldn't be more WRONG!

You really don't know what you are talking about this drug has been around since the 50's and has been proven for malaria. If you served in Vietnam you took this drug or if you ever served in Central America you took this drug, So get your facts together. " Hydroxychloroquine was approved for medical use in the United States in 1955.[2] It is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines, the safest and most effective medicines needed in a health system.[8] In 2017, it was the 128th most commonly prescribed medication in the United States, with more than five million prescriptions.

The US waited too long until after other countries successfully tested it before giving it approval.
It should not matter who endorses a drug. Only the results should matter.

Do your research. Chloroquine has the bad heart side effects. Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) was created to not have those, BUT giving HCQ to very ill, dying patients can be dangerous as it's then too late for drug to work properly. Every "study" or use of it thus way should've been realized by the doctors administering the HCQ.

Weather or not a drug (any drug) should be used to treat or prevent any condition, is a decision that should be made by the patient and their doctor.
Public opinion should not decide how or if you should be treated.

Submitted by cboomgard : May 28, 2020 4:53pm

I agree only the patient should have the right to accept or reject a treatment. But no one person should make the decision that you can not take this drug based on your false understandings of the drug.

Submitted by mike11 : May 29, 2020 8:15am

All hydroxychloroquin should be sent to trump for use as a study. Veterans are too honorable to be used as a test study.

Submitted by Vesancho95 : May 28, 2020 5:11pm

Veterans have been used as research subjects since this freaking country began...but you piss and moan about a tried and true treatment? what is your major malfunction? imo

Submitted by desert : May 28, 2020 7:17pm

Your comments against Trump are uncalled for if you don't want to use the drug then so be it, but don't attack our President for trying too assure people that he is willing to use this drug to control the virus. It has been proven world wide that this drug has help people with the virus to recover. Stop listening to fake news.

I find it very sad that the quality of care at the VA has decreased so much since I last had the privilege of serving there.

HCQ has a very good track record of over 60 years of safe use for a variety of illnesses and, most recently, has proven effective treating this latest one. Why are they still wanting to test? It works. Use it. Plain and simple. I know, leave it to the government to take something so simple and complicate it!

Just because the VA is using it does not mean that it is the only treatment that is being used. As a paramedic (I know that i am not a doctor) I have seen and taken care of patients that have been given many different treatments based on signs and symptoms that they are having. Yes hydroxychloroquine is being use and it is not just the VA that is using it. I have seen other hospitals, nursing homes, private practices, etc that are using it along with other treatment. It may work for some but may not work for others. Not everyone is the same and every treatment will work with each patient. Just like the Flu, asthma, copd, other infections one type of treatment may work for one patient may not work for another. it is up to each patient and physician to try and find the treatment that works or may work for that individual.

Seems foolish and dangerous, something Potus would promote through ignorance.

This is childish behavior seeking attention - I guess to be expected from a draft dodger,eh? He has no qualifications - including moral - to be America's commander in-chief. I am embarrassed that the Legion has not served our members better by calling out this juvenile behavior . Please list what substantive things POTUS has done for our service people. We desperately need the draft so everyone has skin in the game before picking our leader.

Substantative?
1. VA Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act
2. VA Mission Act (expands our access to community care)
3. Secured 8.6 billion for VA mental health services (far too many suicides)
4. Trump talks more and does more for the military than recent presidents, back to Reagan...

I believe that if our leaders would begin telling the truth we would finally begin to solve this problem with the help of our scientists and medical experts. How very unprofessional this whole business has been. The result people are getting sick and dying and no plan in site to resolve the crisis. If we only would have listened to the warnings that were there in January.

I served in combat twice and also have bone spurs now. They are awful. Educate yourself lest you look marginally intelligent.

I was in Vietnam for 14 months and every week we took a large orange pill and if we were in certain parts of the country we took a little white pill everyday. These pills were for Malaria, now I don't know if the pills were Hydroxychloroquine or not but I do know they saved many troops for getting Malaria and many did not trust the pills and they got Malaria.I do not remember anyone in my company having any issues with there heart from the pills. So if you think Hydroxychloroquine might help you it is your decision. Us older Veterans must remember and use good old common sense to survive, and that is why we are still alive. Like I say, I did not live this long by being stupid.

It continues to amaze me just how gullible Trump followers are. As a young man I couldn't understand how the German people were so willing to follow Hitler. As I look around and see what is happening in our great country I am beginning to see how it happened.

I noticed that since Trump said "try it what do you have to loose"? All this rhetoric came about before any tests or results were made. What if someone either than President Trump said it. My guess would be" Why not", There is a lot of hate out there because someone said so and the sheeple just followed on.

I really don't know where to start, this is like guessing who is buried in Grants tomb. Hydroxychloroquine has been used avidly since 1955 to treat all kinds of things. Lets call it a safety test over 50 years and MILLIONS of patients. NO ONE has died from taking it. The one problem it causes is the one reason for not taking it, it can aggravate a condition called "Extended Q-T", (Irregular heart beat) And all of the warnings on the label? ALL MEDICINES have warnings. If someone takes a drug and gets hit by a truck, the law requires that a warning be put on the label. Whoever is trying to discourage use of this drug obviously has a different agenda than trying to help people.

The military has been using it to counter malaria for years. It's another fake talking point of the left being politicized just like everything else, all in the name of destroying our President.

Submitted by vscottp : Jul 30, 2020 3:00pm

Can't say it enough. It was fine to give us months and months of supply of it as a preventative when deployed overseas, yet somehow it isn't effective as a preventative for the civilian populace. This is wrong on many different levels and leads me to believe something is afoul with this entire politicized Pandemic.
