It was recently (August 13th, I believe) that Israel and the UAE will establish full diplomatic relations, with the UAE becoming the third fully recognized Arab state to recognize Israel. That was a bold step by UAE and agreeing to sell them F35's rewards that behavior and contributes to decreasing tensions. That also implies a reduced likelihood that UAE would ever use those planes against Israel, unlike Saudi Arabia to whom we have sold planes for years. I also assume there are differences between F35s for US and the 'export' models. What do you want to bet Israel doesn't receive a model closer to our own than that which would be available to UAE?

Not sure why the UAE would need F-35's as Iran's Air Force is a joke. They might be better off with Strike Eagles or upgraded F-16's. F-35 is just a prestige item for them. We should be very careful on who we share F-35 technology with. On the other hand, we need access to their air bases so maybe that is a reason to move forward with a sale.
UAE is the most modernized country in the Middle East. They have to have the latest and greatest. I'm sure they're willing to pay like crazy and the U.S. will gladly take their money.
Let's see if Israel gets sacrificed. I guess that's how they got the "peace" deal, until Trump leaves office, then the planes conveniently end up on some rival of Israel's airfield.
