Houston color guard comes up big

Harrisburg Post 472 of Houston, Texas, took first place in two different classes of The 93rd American Legion National Convention Color Guard Contest in Minneapolis Saturday. The Texas group scored an 88.9 while the 2nd District Color Guard of Valpraiso, Ind., came in second with a combined score of 84.9 in the Advancing/Retrieving Colors Contest. Third place in that event went to the Sons of The American Legion 12th District Color Guard.

Harrisburg also took top honors in the Military Open Class.

Eagles Elite Unit 564 of Worden, Ill., won the Open Class competition.

Valpraiso was first in the Military Class competition, followed by Montebello Post 272 of California and George Whitman Post 642 of Sedalia, Mo.
