OCW donations at work

Over the past few weeks, The American Legion Operation Comfort Warriors program has made donations to support veterans receiving treatment at VA hospitals.

The Department of New York American Legion Family made an OCW donation of $6,000 in requested items to the Canandaigua (N.Y.) Veterans Affairs Medical Center. New York Legion Family members shopped for supplies such as toiletries, clothes, bedding, recreational equipment, electronic devices and appliances, including a microwave and mini fridge.

The Department of Arkansas made an OCW donation of $6,000 in requested items to the John C. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in Little Rock. The grant purchased health and personal items for patients, televisions and games, as well as shoes and clothing for the hospital’s homeless program. A cooking range was also purchased to help patients learn to cook as part of their recovery.
