The 2018 membership card application for American Legion and Sons of The American Legion members are a little larger this year due to more information being captured – phone number, gender, date of birth and email. The membership card, which features a watermark of the Women in Military Service for America Memorial in Washington, D.C., will remain the same size. Printing and distribution of the 2018 membership card will begin after the April target date.

Legacy Run. Online registration for the 2017 American Legion Legacy Run is now open. To register or for more information, visit www.legion.org/riders/registration. This year’s ride will leave Fort Dodge, Kan., Aug. 12 and travel west to Reno, Nev. – site for the 2017 American Legion National Convention. The cross-country motorcycle ride raises money for The American Legion Legacy Fund, which provides college money for the children of U.S. military personnel killed on active duty on or after Sept. 11, 2001, as well as the children of post-9/11 veterans with a combined VA disability rating of 50 percent or higher.

Military support. The American Legion has launched a special web page – www.legion.org/family – to make it easier for veterans, servicemembers and their families to access Legion support programs in one location and to receive immediate assistance. The page features direct links to the Legion’s Operation Comfort Warriors, Temporary Financial Assistance and Family Support Network programs, as well as information on Children & Youth program, the latest news and videos about each program.
