Celebrate Flag Day, June 14

Flag Day is this Saturday, and The American Legion - a great flag advocate from its beginning - has plenty of resources available to help celebrate.

A guidelined speech for Flag Day is available online for Legion members to use during their community celebrations, or post ceremonies, and emphasize what the organization represents. They are not meant to be recited verbatim; members are greatly encouraged to amend them to fit the situation.

Other American Legion resources for posts to use on Flag Day include the U.S. Flag Code and "Let's Be Right on Flag Etiquette" booklet for purchase; and the Flag Advocacy subsection on the national website, which discusses flag FAQs, myths and more.

The annual Pause for the Pledge will take place at 7 p.m. EDT. Click here to read the National Commander's Message from the June issue of The American Legion Magazine, "The flag’s meaning to our forefathers."
