Wherever in the world they lay their Legion caps

The Fourth of July 2018 holiday featured events across the United States, many organized or attended by representatives of the American Legion Family.

This was also true of events in Schinnen, Netherlands; Angeles City, Philippines; and more. Whether at American Legion offices or military installations, posts that are part of the Foreign and Outlying Departments and Posts of The American Legion (FODPAL) are just as active and dedicated as posts in the lower 48.

Many of their accomplishments can be seen in one place: the FODPAL Facebook page at www.facebook.com/fodpal. FODPAL Secretary Doug Haggan heads up the page; he says it has been active for five years. In addition to him, invited individuals can post directly to the page. But it’s mostly Haggan keeping an eye on departments’ and posts’ pages, among others, and reposting things he thinks “may be of importance to members of FODPAL.”

That material varies, from newsletters to events to military news for retired veterans and active-duty servicemembers alike. Haggan encourages posts and departments to keep up their postings of events, happenings and history – “anything that may help all the departments and posts in FODPAL grow their membership and visibility.”
