Item: Legion Radio Club newsletter
During the first full week of each month, typically, the TALARC newsletter is issued via email from the Legion’s National Headquarters. In addition to club-related items that we hope are of interest to our members, the newsletter serves to remind all of the monthly and weekly nets conducted by the club.
Those on the net today are likely familiar with the newsletter, but if not, please check the spam folder on your PC, tablet or phone to be sure it isn’t being diverted there. If you don’t find the newsletter in the spam folder and you are not receiving it regularly, please email TALARC vice president Bill Sloan, NZ9S, at wsloan@legion.org and provide your email address along with your name and call sign.
If you wish, you can review newsletters from the last two years or so. They are listed on the club website at www.legion.org/hamradio ; click on “President’s Messages” in the left-hand column.

Item: Legion Birthday Special Event – March 10th
The American Legion Amateur Radio Club will commemorate the 99th "birthday" of The American Legion, with Special Event Station operations on March 10, 2018, from 1300 to 1900 EST [1800Z-2359Z].
Call sign for the Special Event will be our club call sign: K9TAL. We will operate on 20m, 14.275 MHz; 40m, 7.225 MHz; IRLP Node 9735; and EchoLink *CrossRoads* Conference node.
As with all TALARC special events, certificates will be issued, on request, to those who are entered into the TALARC log books on that day. The information on bands, frequencies and modes – along with directions for securing a certificate and QSL card – can also be found on the K9TAL page of the QRZ.com website.
Note that due to the Special Event set for the second Saturday of March, the regular 20 meter and EchoLink nets will not operate.

Item: TALARC Membership Certificate
If you don’t have an 8 x 10 color Certificate of TALARC Membership on the wall of your radio room, there’s an easy fix for that. You will find a PDF file on the club website, at www.legion.org/hamradio; click on “Membership Certificate.” From there all you need do is fill in the PDF with your name, call sign, the date you joined TALARC, and your member number, which is the number on your American Legion membership card that’s in your wallet.
