TALARC D-STAR NET REPORT – 05 March 2018

Station W4CDA conducted the monthly net on Reflector 056C on Monday, 05 March 2018. The net began at 2000 EST (0100 UTC) with Ken (KY4KD) acting as Net Control. There were 13 check-ins, including Net Control. We had check-ins from 3 states. Turnout at the post for the net was strong (6 members).

Item: Legion Birthday Special Event – March 10
The American Legion Amateur Radio Club will commemorate the 99th "Birthday" of The American Legion, with Special Event Station operations on March 10, 2018, from 1300 to 1900 EST [1800Z-2359Z].
Call sign for the Special Event will be our club call sign: K9TAL. We will operate on 14.275 MHz, 7.225 MHz, IRLP Node 9735 and EchoLink *CrossRoads* Conference node.
The information on bands, frequencies and modes – along with directions for securing a certificate and QSL card – is on the K9TAL page of the QRZ.com website.
Note that due to the Special Event set for the second Saturday of March, the regular 20 meter and EchoLink nets will not operate.

Item: HamVention 2018
If you’re planning to be at HamVention this year, which is set for May 18, 19 and 20, please stop by the TALARC booth at the Greene County Fair Grounds and Expo Center – in Xenia, Ohio – and say “Hello” to the Headquarters staff and volunteers who will be on hand for the event. Item: Daylight Saving Time Reminder
Daylight Saving Time goes into effect on Sunday, March 11, at 2 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. Most states in the United States observe this change, and clocks will “spring forward” on that day. If you’re wondering when we will “fall back” to Standard Time, that takes place on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at 2 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time.
