Station W4CDA conducted the monthly net on Reflector 056C on Monday, 01 October 2018. The net began at 2000 EST with Ken (KY4KD) acting as Net Control. There were 28 check-ins, including Net Control. We had check-ins from 9 states.
Of special interest: this has been our largest TALARC net since taking over in January 2018. This month exceeded last month’s net by 3 additional check-ins !
Please Note: Our next TALARC D-Star Net will be held on Monday, November 5 at 8:00 PM EST on REF 056C. This net will be special in the fact that K9PTF, KD4IZ, KB4TC, KY4KD, Myself KM4QOY, and W4CDA The Wilderness Road Amateur Radio Club will all donate $1 per check-in (up to $25 each for a total potential of $150) which will go to the Danville, Ky., Post 46 Boys State Program. Item: Boy Scouts of America’s Jamboree on the Air
Jamboree-on-the-Air, or JOTA, is the largest Scouting event in the world. It is held annually on the third full weekend in October and this year that’s October 19 - 21. JOTA uses amateur radio to link Scouts and hams around the world, around the nation and in your own community. For Scout troops, packs and crews, it means getting together with a local amateur radio club or a trip to a nearby amateur radio operator’s ham shack to learn about amateur radio.
The September edition of the TALARC monthly newsletter has detailed information about this year’s Jamboree-On-the-Air. It includes links to sites related to “Guidelines for Amateur Radio Operators Participation,” which includes operating rules, general guidelines, suggested frequencies and modes of communication.
If you are situated in an area that is far removed from a Scouting unit, you can still participate by having a QSO with the many JOTA stations that will have enthusiastic Scouts calling, “CQ CQ JOTA,” and hoping to make contact via the airwaves.

Item: Veterans Day Special Event
Information related to “The American Legion Salute to Veterans” on Sunday, November 11 is within the Octoberedition of the TALARC monthly newsletter, which will be issued via email from Legion National Headquarters during the week of October 8. All TALARC members who have provided their email address to National Headquarters should be receiving this newsletter monthly.
If it doesn’t reach your email in-box, check the Spam folder. If you don’t see the newsletter in either folder, contact National Headquarters via k9tal@legion.org, provide your email address and ask to be placed on the TALARC newsletter mailing list.
