TALARC D-STAR NET REPORT – 06 July 2020

Station W4CDA conducted the monthly net on Reflector 056C on Monday, 06 July 2020. The nets began at 2000 EST with Ken (KY4KD) acting as Net Control. There were 33 total check-ins, including Net Control, from 10 states. Due to the restrictions mandated by COVID-19, this net was not conducted from American Legion Post 346. Ken (KY4KD) conducted the net singlehandedly from his QTH. Great job Ken, thank you! For the same reason, our veterans after-net was also not held.

Item: 2020 Veterans Day Special Event
Since the inception of The American Legion Amateur Radio Club we’ve conducted two Special Event Station operations annually – One in March to commemorate the birthday of the Legion, and one in November to underscore the importance of Veterans Day via the amateur radio community. It is a bit early to be talking about Veterans Day activities when the event is more than four months away, but we want to mention it now so you can place it on your calendar.
This year’s operation is set for Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2020, 1 pm to 7 pm Eastern Standard Time – 1800Z to 2359Z.
Using the special 1x1 call sign that is yet to be determined, the National Headquarters station will operate on 40m, 20m, 2m, IRLP and EchoLink on that day.
The particulars of the event will later be posted on QRZ.com. For now, please put that date on your calendar – Wednesday, Nov. 11 – and plan to be a part of this year’s Veterans Day operations.
