MD Post 275 celebrates the Legion's birthday

On March 16, some of the members of the American Legion Post 275 Amateur Radio Team (call sign N3TAL) in Glenarden, Md., celebrated the 94th birthday of The American Legion by making radio contact with the Special Event Station (N9L) at National Headquarters in Indianapolis. After starting the day with a hardy breakfast at the post's biweekly breakfast buffet, the team set up a portable HF radio station in the post banquet hall. As the hall was being prepared for a dinner dance that night, the team members patiently waited for propagation to improve so they could make their "birthday contacts." Shortly after noon, N9L boomed in on the Yeasu 897D. Team members Kenneth L. Courtney (AA3NN), Benjamin Walker (AJ3A), Kenneth Greenhouse (KB3IIE), Matthew Blanding (K4FNX), Frank Jenkins (WA3ULX) and Edgar Hopson (N3TFS) checked in with the Headquarters Special Event Station and completed the day's mission.
