TALARC Radio Room gets upgrade

The American Legion Amateur Radio Club Headquarters Station, K9TAL, upgraded to two HF operating positions in December 2014. However, until a second HF antenna can be procured and mounted on the roof, only one HF station can operate at a time.
The original HF position now uses a Kenwood TS-850 transceiver, while the TS0450 moved to the old VHF-UHF operating position.

The second operating position now has an Ameritron AL-80B linear amplifier to add a little extra pizzazz to the TS-450's output. The Yaesu FT8800 packs a good punch on VHF/UHF bands, where it also works IRLP and Echolink stations. TALARC's K9TAL is activated during SKYWARN operations in the spring and summer.
