Alabama Legion sponsoring Vietnam veterans salute

The American Legion Department of Alabama and Operation Comfort Warriors (OCW) are sponsoring a Vietnam veterans tribute during the Montgomery Biscuits home baseball game against the Mississippi Braves Saturday evening. The Biscuits are the AA affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.

OCW is providing game tickets and meal vouches for 250 patients from the Central Alabama VA Medical System. he Department of Alabama is escorting the patients as part of a larger salute to area veterans that the ballpark is conducting; the Department of Georgia will also be sending representatives to the game since the VA hospital cares for veterans from western Georgia as well

The first 250 Vietnam veterans in attendance will be admitted free. A Vietnam veteran will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the game. There will be video messages on the scoreboard honoring the Vietnam veterans in attendance. Following the game will be the largest fireworks display of the month at Riverwalk Stadium.
