PNC Hill honored by Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce

Past National Commander Clarence E. Hill received the Rear Admiral Kevin F. Delaney Military Hall of Fame Award by the Jacksonville, Fla., Chamber of Commerce on November 5.

Hill, a retired Navy captain, was elected national commander at The American Legion’s 91st national convention on Aug. 27, 2009. He was the department commander of Florida from 2002 to 2003 and served as a three-time post commander of Post 316 in Atlantic Beach, Fla.

The Delaney award is given each year to a “veteran who has made a positive impact on the Jacksonville community.”

“Thank you to the Chamber for this award,” Hill said at the presentation. “ I am surprised, honored and humbled to have been chosen. Jacksonville is the most veteran-friendly town thanks to the mayor, City Council, Chamber and all the corporate sponsors gathered here today. Thank you to my wife, Liz, for 42 years of encouragement, support and great advice."
