The American Legion Family members from Jenkins-Vaughan Post 97 were forced to cancel their annual Memorial Day parade in Cardington, Ohio due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, they found a new way to observe Memorial Day with their community. The post honor guard carried the colors, followed by a solemn procession, from American Legion Park to Glendale cemetery for a ceremony. All participants followed social distancing guidelines, and the community watched from porches and via livestream on the post’s Facebook page. Photos by Maddie McGarvey
Although the COVID-19 pandemic forced them to scale back their ceremony and make accommodations for social distancing, American Legion Post 46 in Morehead City, N.C. still hosted Memorial Day observance at Bayview Cemetery to honor the veterans buried there.
