The Veterans Memorial Park in Sacaton, Ariz., is filled with honor & remembrance, including two life-sized bronze statues of Ira H. Hayes and Mathew B. Juan. The 31st Annual “In the Footsteps of the 82nd Airborne Division” march in late February traced a route traversed by members of the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment and the Independent 551st Parachute Infantry Battalion in early 1945.
