When in the Navy i vote by mail in the 60s now for the third time, I voted by mail yesterday. I trust my state to keep voting honest. We must save our Country from those who want to undermine our right to vote.
YES - HOWEVER not all mail in Votes are from the military or in other words Secure. The failure of all States to maintain proper procedure to insure the votes are Secure should be a Standard for all. Which would keep them Free from Foreign influence to include illegal immigrants another foreign influence.
It is important to make the distinction between absentee ballot and universal vote by mail. I vote by absentee ballot due to health issues. Each election cycle, I have to request a ballot, confirm my identity, and verify that my address is correct. With universal vote by mail, ballots are automatically sent to everyone on the voter rolls. The problem is that most of the time voter rolls are not well kept. What if the voter has moved or died? The ballot may go to the wrong person, a person that may not be eligible to vote, one person may obtain multiple ballots. Universal vote by mail is potentially a disaster.
Universal voting is potentially a serious challenge. It has been proven the roles are not well kept, cleaned or have "deceased" voters still on the voting rolls. That's is just one aspect that is of concern. Among the other important issues is the foreign intrusion into our "open" system of voting - easily manipulated and very easily influenced given the state of inter/intra generational affairs. Beyond that, don't rule out the interests of folks who are not democracies. Five big players exist. I could go on.
For over two hundred years the genuinely concerned voters of this country walked, rode horseback, cars, trucks and buses to get to a polling station to vote. In rain and snow, whether they were sick or healthy, those who were truly interested, I call them patriotic, made every possible effort to make it to a polling station BEFORE it closed to cast their ballot; if they couldn't, for WHATEVER REASON, then they just didn't vote! Along can the ABSENTEE ballots (these are NOT mail in ballots) have been available for voters (as far back as I can remember, I'm 74) who knew they wouldn't be available personally to cast a vote, but were patriotic enough to want to vote all the same. When the polls CLOSED, no further voting was permitted and the ballots of the DAY were counted and the winner was announced.
Now, for some reason certain political individuals feel the centuries old procedure is no longer good enough; or is it just because they are so desperate the might not get elected they are DEMANDING change? They think someone who is too sick, or too lazy to leave the house, or some non-registered (legal or illegal) individuals might not be able to (or want to) vote we have to change the rules. If these individuals are so sick or so non-patriotic to register to vote, or acquire an ABSENTEE ballot, why should we be so concerned? These type of individuals have been around forever, and always will be! In the U.S., no one is required by law to vote in any local, state, or presidential election. According to the U.S. Constitution, voting is a right and a privilege.
How is it MAILING a ballot to everyone and anyone, named on a census, a absolutely fool proof means to prevent the dead or ILLEGAL voters from voting? Are our politicians so desperate for votes that they want to jeopardize the entire proven voting system to accommodate their personal, corrupt desires? Mail in ballots cannot be honestly confirmed or regulated and are vividly an open invitation to corruption and a dilution to the true meaning of the freedom to vote. Further, by allowing to accept ballots up to six days after the polls have closed to be counted, without question, mathematically increases the probability of illegal votes being cast!
The United States is recognized as the only country in the world which has unquestioningly, the most legal, honest system of voting. If you doubt it, you only have to look at Russia, China, or Venezuela to name a few. Is the means to elect politicians in these countries what you want in the United States? If so, then I'm speaking to the wrong group of people, and my opinion of the membership of this organization has been greatly diminished!

As much mail never gets delivered, those votes will not count. My biggest concern is voter fraud as folks have admitted to voting multiple times in person and by mail in ballots.

It never ceases to amaze me how gullible some are to believe that ballots are mailed to every address. Yes, I know that William Barr, the United States Attorney General has said they are mailed capriciously. Notice he hasn't accused any specific board of elections!
Today I heard a political add claiming, among other things, that ballots are mailed along with utility bills. so much easily refuted BS. The sponsor of that lying ad? The ad was claimed by the "Under God We Trust Foundation." Pathetic!!!!
I live in Oregon, and they have had mail in ballots for decades. I prefer it over having to go to a polling place to cast my vote. I can research things on my computer (for issues other than a candidate) and I drop it off when I'm done at city hall. You have to sign the back of the envelope and it is compared with the signature on record. If it doesn't match, it doesn't get counted.

In 1864's election soldier-citizens away from home at war were allowed to "vote by mail" where there was little/no security in how their ballot was obtained, produced, signed, witnessed, etc. In an effort to defeat Lincoln, some of George McClellan's supporters counterfeited wounded and even deceased soldier's signatures. BOTTOM LINE: Most states allow people to request "Absentee Ballots" by first proving who they are, and then by multiple steps to assure they are the same people submitting the completed ballot. "Mail-in" or "By Mail Voting" refers to the gross delivery of blank ballots to anyone in the state who can be found on (depending upon the state) past voter registration lists. This often includes to those deceased since they registered, to old addresses if an individual has recently moved, to all the patients in a nursing home (including those with Alzheimer and other forms of dementia, comatose, etc.), etc., etc. There is no way to ascertain the validity of large numbers of ballots potentially returned just as in the case of 1864, only worse (many more people involved).

The overwhelming vote of distrust of the mail in ballot system proves how the president has succeeded in sowing this mistrust. As a disabled veteran I have voted for years via mail in ballot and has never before had reason for distrust, until this year and the highly negative rhetoric of the president. I will continue to vote by mail and trust the system.
My wife and I vote by mail and have for several years. Our system where we live works well and is reliable. I do know that people move and do not regularly update their voting info, just as they do not always update driver's licenses in a timely manner. Voter lists need to be checked rigorously and corrected to remove those who have died and those who have not made the effort to keep their information accurate.
This year I have been selected to perform one of the three jobs in my voting precinct. I will have to be there 30 minutes prior to 7:00am opening and will stay until all persons present in line at 7:00pm are serviced - (Yes there is a method to confirm the last voters to get in line.) I have to vote an absentee ballot or I have no way to vote while serving as a precinct official. Sorry, but that is the method precinct officials MUST use to vote. Don't take away my right to vote because I now serve as a voting official. Don't take away my only right to absentee vote as a retired 25+ year veteran. Remind the AG of the US that he needs to follow the constitution and the right to vote. Believe me. I am trying to make sure the votes are accurate IAW Oklahoma Laws and US Laws.

Keeping the integrity of voting secure is very important. Strong voter ID regulations are important to insure that everyone's vote counts! Clean and maintain voter rolls, verify signatures, eliminate same day registration and close all avenues for voter fraud.

I received a forwarded ballot request from a state I moved away from 2 years ago, can't even get regular mail forwarded any more. I also received 3, yes 3 ballot requests for my daughter who has NEVER lived in the state.....
Voting is a constitutionally protected right! I have faith in OUR system of government and voting. If your willing to abuse your right to vote by committing voter fraud you should be punished. My voting place is closer than the Post Office and they take care to ensure that I am a legal , registered voter every year. Non Presidential election years are as important. Voter fraud last year?
