What is The American Legion doing about protecting veterans’ businesses that contract with the federal government?

Question:

What is The American Legion doing about protecting veterans’ businesses that contract with the federal government?  The Government Services Administration now uses a reverse auction company to beat small businesses down so they can’t make a profit.  The process is predatory and takes advantage of small veteran-owned businesses. We need your help.

Answer:

The American Legion is testifying at a congressional hearing on Dec. 11 to discuss this very issue.  In short, the Legion believes that government has a legal responsibility to protect small businesses from predatory practices.  We understand the desire to be fiscally responsible and applaud government’s effort to minimize financial exposure. But we need to remain vigilant that those goals do not adversely affect the economy by taking undue advantage of small businesses.  A complete copy of The American Legion’s testimony will be posted on the Legislative page of our website, and will be available for download on the 11th.  You are also welcome to watch the hearing live by clicking here and then clicking on the little blue TV icon (YouTube) in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Sincerely, Louis J.
