Membership efforts headed to Oklahoma

A pair of district revitalization efforts in Oklahoma in the coming weeks will allow area veterans to get benefits assistance while learning about American Legion programs.

American Legion national staff and Department of Oklahoma Legionnaires will team up Sept. 28-29 and Oct. 4-5 in two different locations for veterans outreach efforts.

• Sept. 28-29: Veterans in and around Beckham, Custer, Dewey, Ellis, Roger Mills, Greer, Harmon, Jackson, Kiowa, Tillman and Washita counties are invited to attend the effort, which will take place at John R. Strange Post 117, 117 W. 4th St., Hobart. The hours are 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. both days; a veterans service officer will be available both days to assist with Department of Veterans Affairs-related issues and other veterans benefits questions.

• Oct. 4-5: Veterans in and around Atoka, Latimer, Pittsburg, Pushmataha, Johnston, McCurtain, Marshall, Love, Choctaw, Carter and Bryan counties are invited to attend the effort, which will take place at Atoka Post 48, 231 E. 1st St., Atoka. The hours are 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. both days; a veterans service officer will be available both days to assist with Department of Veterans Affairs-related issues and other veterans benefits questions.
