Over 8,660 Legion posts highlight community-related activities in report

The American Legion’s Consolidated Post Report (CPR) was established nearly 45 years ago for posts to fill out with documentation of its external activities from the reporting period of June 1-May31. This data is collected by National Headquarters to help quantify – for Congress, Legion media, national leadership and more – the good that American Legion posts do in their communities every year.

Out of 12,700 American Legion posts, so far 8,661 have submitted a 2018-2019 CPR for an average completion rate of 68 percent.

Below are a few of the tabulated results that show:

- 723,170 volunteer hours were donated by Legionnaires at VA medical centers;

- 44,046 Legionnaires gave over 69,053 pints of blood;

- 119,930 post-related events were covered through different media outlets;

- 123,638 funeral honors were provided;

- 1,746 American Legion baseball teams were post-sponsored at a cost of nearly $4.8 million;

- 1,842 Boy Scout units were post-sponsored for a cost of nearly $1.6 million;

- $955,987 was spent through various school-assisted programs;

- 19,697 American flags were presented; and

- 4,415,832 community service hours were donated by Legionnaires and over $5 million was spent in support of those activities;
