January impact: appeals unit clears all ‘legacy’ cases

Across communities, states and the nation, The American Legion served veterans, deployed troops and taxpayers in January. The Legion’s Board of Veterans Appeals unit starts January off with a clean slate of “legacy” cases that had gone undecided 125 days or longer, and the Veterans Employment & Education Division publicized two major reports, one that shows how a model to protect students from GI Bill exploitation can work when institution reviews become mandatory next October.

Meanwhile, a Junior Shooting Sports team from Texas delivered goodies to National Guard personnel deployed on the border, the Americanism Division fielded its usual wave of Flag Code inquiries, the Tango Alpha Lima podcast had its second-best month for downloads, and The American Legion had an inspiring message for attendees of the 2022 Student Veterans of America National Conference in Orlando.
