Return of war medals: ‘We have him back with us’

The green beret, purple heart and bronze star of Richard C. Keener are returned to his widow, Pat,  during a ceremony at the Bob Hope Patriotic Hall in Los Angeles, Calif., on Monday, May 9. The items that belonged to the U.S. Special Forces soldier who served two tours in Vietnam, were discovered in a Goodwill Store and turned over to American Legion Post 3 Commander Roy Carpenter, of Roanoke, VA.  The medals were displayed on a table when National Vice-Commander Jimmy Lane and Department of Virginia Commander James Chapman came to the post as part of a local revitalization and saw them.
