The memorial is a white concrete bunker and a black granite wall (engraved with the names of 136 area men lost in Vietnam) opposite each other in a circle formation with a lighted tower on the outside of the perimeter. The Memorial was built on the Lakewalk in Duluth on the shores of Lake Superior. Designed by Dwight Nelson, Commander A. L. Post 28, Duluth, MN.; a U. S. Navy Vietnam Veteran.
