Raymond R. Schwartz Memorial Garden

Raymond R. Schwartz Memorial Garden

In February 1951, eight men from the Elk River High School graduating class of 1949 and 1950 enlisted into the army together to serve in the Korean War. Ray (Moon) Schwartz was killed September 27,1951 in an ambush while on patrol four days after his 19th birthday. A classmate later learned that he had volunteered for the patrol. Jerry Palmer wanted to honor his friend and classmate in conjunction with the 50th class reunion in August of 2000.
