Veterans Memorial of Timeless Honor

Veterans Memorial of Timeless Honor

MISSION Our mission is to create a Veteran’s Memorial as a place to honor and preserve the memory of all who served (past present and future) in the Armed Forces of the United States of America. The Morrison Veteran’s Memorial will be a timeless reminder of the spirit, sacrifice, and commitment of the local community to the common defense of the nation and also to the preservation of peace and freedom from tyranny throughout the world. The memorial sits on a concrete pad twenty five feet by thirty five feet. Five black granite slabs two foot wide and five feet tall are divided by gray granite die of three foot by three foot.( four total). Black granite die span the top twenty two foot width and peak from six inches at the ends to eighteen inches in the middle. A flag pole is at each end of the Memorial; one flies the United States of America flag and the second flies the Oklahoma and POW/MIA flags. The front of each the black granite die have, near the top,one of the five seals of the service branches (Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard) engraved in gold. The gray granite slabs have veterans names engraved on them. There is space for approximately 450 names. The top of the memorial has “VETERANS MEMORIAL of TIMELESS HONOR” on it . The memorial has seven recessed lights in the concrete pad on the side facing the highway. The lights are set on a timer to run from dusk to dawn. Outdoor electrical receptacles are mounted at the memorial. There is a “Walk of Freedom” up to the memorial made with bricks engraved with names of supporters of the monument. Black Granite benches four foot long are placed around the memorial. A metal chain mounted to black metal posts with gold fineals has been erected on the south side of the memorial as a border to the memorial.
