Lebanon Veterans Memorial and Walk

Lebanon Veterans Memorial and Walk

On the property adjacent to the Lebanon Town Hall there are several memorial monuments including the “Main Flagpole” Monument, the “Korea to Afghanistan” Monument, and the “WWI & WWII” Monument. In 2014 Post 180 together with two Boy Scouts working on their Eagle Scout Projects, undertook a massive upgrade and modernization of the entire site. The scope of the Eagle Scout Projects included planning, fundraising, and completion of work which focused on the two smaller monuments including cleaning, landscaping and construction of brick paver patios at each monument as well as installation of stone dust walkways between the monuments connecting them with the main flagpole monument. A third, “Iraq & Afghanistan” Monument was added midway along the stone dust path to the WWI & WWII Monument. An existing granite bench from the Legion Post was relocated to the Korea and Afghanistan Monument and two new granite benches were provided for the two other monuments. The post work included repairs to the central monument, installation of granite planters and a paver walkway in the shape of a cross with engraved memorial bricks.
