"The American Doughboy"

"The American Doughboy"

"The American Doughboy" is one of several across the United States. The memorial in the Downtown Plaza in New Braunfels, Texas is cast zinc. The memorial is dedicated "To World War Veterans of Comal County 1917-1918". Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Clousnitzer donated funds for the memorial, to Post 179 of the American Legion, in New Braunfels. The figure is of a soldier in full combat uniform with helmet, boots and backpack. He is carrying a rifle in his left hand and is moving forward with his outstretched right hand clutching a hand grenade. The soldier's mouth is open, as if to say, "Follow me!".
