The bust head on top of the monument was that of a World War II soldier killed in action. Someone took a photo to the local headstone company and had them make the bust and paid for it at the time. After a time, no one every came back to pick it up. The company gave the bust to the Richmond County Veterans Council when they purchased the monument.
