Scotland County Veterans Memorial, Laurinburg

The Scotland County Veterans Memorial is a pentagon shaped column on a slanted plinth block on a single base standing approximately 18 feet tall. Each side of the column, near the top, features the coat of arms for each branch of the military in the form of a bronze medallion. The side and base with the Army coat of arms holds the primary inscriptions. The memorial space is outlined with a pentagon shaped edge of granite. White gravel fills the space between the monument base and edging. Front of column near top: SCOTLAND / COUNTY / VETERANS / MEMORIAL Front base: IN HONOR OF THOSE / WHO SERVED IN THE / MILITARY FORCES OF THE / UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / IN WAR AND PEACE, AND IN / LOVING MEMORY OF THOSE / WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN / THAT SERVICE
