Buffalo Soldiers Community Memorial and Buffalo Soldiers Memorial Highway

The memorial is located in Memorial Park, near prospect lake, in what is referred to as the circle of honor. The memorial primary constructed of Red Canadian granite. It has a map of major events in Colorado relating to the Indian wars of the west. It includes a history of the Buffalo Soldiers participation in the Spanish American War in 1898. Memorial includes 23 names of Medal of Honor Winners. The memorial marked the 150th anniversary of the formation of the historic military organizations. The Memorial Highway which was unanimously approved by the Colorado legislatures in 2016 is a 10 stretch of Colorado State Highway 24. The memorial highway is from mile marker 308 to mile marker 298. Basically starts in southern portion of Colorado Springs and winds its way to Manitou Springs, Colorado ending near the entrance of the famous Cave of the Winds.
