War Memorial Park

The Altavista War Memorial Park is dedicated to the residents of Altavista and surrounding areas that served in the United States military. It has a central memorial spot that has a a Freedom Shrine by the local Exchange Club. It has a newly installed Purple Heart Memorial by The American Legion Altavista Memorial Post 36, Finch and Finch Funeral Services, and The Military order of the Purple Heart. The walkways and rock landscaping are done in a locally sourced rock. The baseball field and accompanying gateway are dedicated to local veterans. There is a plaque at the entrance identifying the major contributors to the recent renovations.
