Brigadier General James F. Brittingham

M102 Howitzer and granite plaque dedicated to Brigadier General James F. Brittingham, a veteran of three wars, by the people of Lawton, Oklahoma. BG Brittingham enlisted in 1916, was stationed on the Mexican border from 1916-1917, commissioned in 1917, and was deployed with the 12th Field Artillery to Europe for World War I. BG Brittingham held a number of artillery commands during World War II, and retired in 1954 after commanding the artillery center at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. BG Brittingham passed away in January, 1983 and is interred at Arlington National Cemetery.
