Gold Star Families Memorial Monument in Hayward, California

This memorial was designed by MOH recipient Hershel "Woody" Williams, WWII Marine Corps Veteran and Iwo Jima survivor. Woody's goal is to install and dedicate at least one memorial in every U.S. State. This one was built in the City of Hayward, California by Marine Corps Infantry Veteran Michael L. Emerson. It is the first one built in California and west of the Mississippi river. It was dedicated on December 2, 2017.
