Wellston Veterans Memorial is located at 318 E. 2nd Street in Wellston, Oklahoma. On a concrete patio rest the memorial made up of 4 gray granite vertical slabs in a beautiful garden area. The 4 slabs are arranged in a circular area like the spokes on a wheel. Two granite benches are facing the engraved names on the back area of the memorial. The left monument facing the street area has the following text: In honor of Wellston Veterans Dedicated to all Veterans through Peace or war Their memories will Never die A military seal. * Civil War * World War I * World War II * Korean War * Vietnam * Operation Enduring freedom The right monument facing the street area has the following text: Duty - Honor - Country All gave some Some gave all Dedicated November 17, 1996 Glasko-Legako American Legion Post #61 The monuments behind the front two monuments have the veteran's name in alphabetical order using an " * " beside the name of those killed in action. Approximately 350 names are listed on the two monuments. A beautiful silhouette painting of the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima is on the side of the building next door making the Wellston Veterans Monument stand out. The monument is dedicated to all veterans through peace and war.
