This Memorial was built to honor the military veterans of Waller County, Texas. Waller County is located near Houston, Texas. The memorial's design was donated by American Legion Life member Michael L. Emerson, who served in the U.S. Marine Corps Infantry and is a Desert Storm veteran. The American Legion has given Emerson the nickname "Monument Man" for all of the Veterans and 9/11 Memorials that he has donated the design of, and help to get built, this memorial is his 14th since 2002. The Memorial's build funds were collected my the Waller County Veterans Committee and they hired and had the memorial built.
