Fred G. Bater

Fred G. Bater was a member of the American Legion for 56 years, Clayton, N.Y. Post 0821. He passed away on Sept. 12, 2012.

He served in the United States Navy on the USS Waccamaw, from 1954-1957. He was always very proud of his service in the Navy and of his membership in the American Legion. Before transferring to the Clayton, N.Y., Legion he served many of his years in the Bergen, N.Y., Legion and the Chili, N.Y., Legion..

After his retirement, he enjoyed many years fishing and boating with his wife, Dorie, in the Thousand Island region of New York.
