SSgt. Robert B. Brant

Served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps prior to Pearl Harbor. Trained at Ft. Monmouth and Ft. Dix. Discharged to Reserves in 1941. Recalled post-Pearl Harbor. Went ashore at Omaha Beach, Normandy, went through France and Central Europe with Gen. Patton's Army and ended the war in the Rhineland in 1945. Served in the Army of Occupation. Came home on a troop ship and was honorably discharged. Married Iola F. "Peggy" Jolley prior to shipping out to England and participating in the war. Raised one child, a son, and had a career as a pipefitter with General Motors in Defiance, Ohio, and Mansfield, Ohio. Loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather to two grandsons. Son and one grandson are military veterans, and one grandson is currently serving as a technical sergeant in the Air Force Security Forces. Died Thanksgiving 1990. Is lovingly in our memories.
