Seaman 2nd Class John Lewis Weeks, U.S. Navy

John was my father's older brother, and the uncle I never met. John was a crew member of USS Akron, an airship based out of what was then Naval Air Station Lakehurst, N.J. Akron went down off Barneget, N.J., on the evening of April 3, 1933. The Navy scrapped the airship program shortly thereafter after other airship mishaps. My dad was 13 when John was killed -- coming from a broken home, Dad looked up to John as a father figure. God Bless John.
