George Amiss Carter Sr.

My grandfather, George A. Carter, was a World War I veteran who served in France during the Great War. When he returned home in 1919 he became a charter member of Pannill Post 42 in Martinsville, Va. He served as commander of the post and was also the Virginia 6th District commander, and led the district delegation to the state convention for several years. He also attended the national convention. He was always proud of his service to his country, and very proud to be a Legion member. He was an example for all his children and grandchildren to follow.
