Charles W. Cross

Charles W. Cross, 92, of Warren, Ohio, formerly of Cortland, Ohio, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at 12:52 p.m. at St. Joseph Health Center in Warren. He was born on Oct, 25, 1921, in West Farmington, Ohio, the son of the late Olney E. and Marguerite Henry Cross. Charles was a graduate of Cortland High School and was a retired steelworker from Copperweld Steel in 1981 after 34 years of service. Mr. Cross was also an honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran of World War II. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also owned and operated Cross Radio Repair in Cortland for many years. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7614 in Johnston and also was a member of American Legion Post #888 in Delaware, Ohio. Survivors include his children, Charles R. Cross of Canton and Rosemary Z. (Brian) Miller of Warren; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Larry (Judy) Cross of Cortland. Other than his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mary Lucille Greaser on Nov. 24, 2013, they were united in marriage on Aug. 10, 1946; his son, Jerry O. Cross on Nov. 24, 2007; one great-granddaughter, two brothers and one sister.
