James J., Sr., of Rochelle Park, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at 93. Prior to retiring, he had worked in sales at Link Radio Company in New York, Interstate and Holmes Trucking Companies in New Jersey. He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Naval Seabees Battalion and was a life member of Legion Post 170 of Rochelle Park. In 2015 he was the grand marshal for the Rochelle Park Memorial Day Parade. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart R. C. Church of Rochelle Park, where he served as head usher and was a member of the Holy Name Society. Jim also was a member of the Rochelle Park Zoning Board for 40 years and served as chairman for 10 years. He also was a coach for the Rochelle Park Little League and was a member of the Rochelle Park Senior Club. In 1977 he was recognized as Rochelle Park Outstanding Volunteer. He also was a member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Sacred Heart Council 2842 of Rochelle Park.
Jim was an avid Yankee fan, enjoyed reading, dancing and attending his grandchildren's sporting events, and will be missed by all. Beloved husband for 65 years of Helen Theresa (nee Kearney). Devoted father of Kathleen O' Shaughnessy and her husband George of Milltown, Lisabeth Templeton and her husband Gene of Raphine, Va., Marie O'Day and her husband Cliff of Rochelle Park, Joyce Evans and her husband Tim of Upper Montclair, and James J. Rendine Jr. and his wife Donna of Paramus. Loving grandfather of William, Jennifer, Tara, Kaitlin, Daniel, Patrick, Brooke, George, Michael, Thomas, James and Joseph. Cherished great-grandfather of Parker. Dearest brother of Rose Lamonica of Oceanside, N.Y., and the late Michael Rendine and Carmine Rendine.
