Donald Lyman Stern

Donald L. Stern was born Dec. 30, 1920, in Taopi, Minn., and passed away Oct. 4, 2015.
Don moved to Colorado Springs in 1965 from Sleepy Eye, Minn., and worked as a building contractor until he retired in 2000. Don was a World War II veteran and was privileged to be a part of an Honor Flight in 2011.
He served as an usher at the First United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs for many years, and donated his time and skills to many updates made at the church ranch.
Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan in 2006 after almost 60 years of marriage; by his son-in-law, Ron Rono, in 1996; and by three brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his daughters, Barbara Rono of Wayzata, Minn., Mary Fran McCord (Bob) of Colorado Springs, and Eileen Murphy (Kevin) of Dripping Springs, Texas, as well as eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.
