Gary G. Clemson Sr.

Gary G. Clemson, 74, of Tamaqua, Pa., died on Friday, June 24, 2016, in Danville, Pa. He was the husband of Ann (nee Lopresto) Clemson, to whom he was married 50 years on June 4 of this year. Born in Coaldale, Pa., on Feb. 8, 1942, Gary was a son of the late Richard E. and Eva M. (nee Herring) Clemson. A 1959 graduate of Tamaqua High School, he served in the Navy from 1959-1963. Retired as the vice president of the Mortgage Department of the former Pennsylvania National Bank, Pottsville, Pa., Gary's prior employment included teller at the former People's Trust Company, Tamaqua, and auditor at the former Pennsylvania National Bank, Pottsville. He was a member of the Primitive Methodist Church, Tamaqua; a life member of the American Hose Company, Tamaqua; a member of American Legion Post 67, Cary, N.C.; the Tamaqua Elks Lodge, and the NRA; a former member of the Tamaqua-Lansford Dart League; past treasurer of the former Tamaqua Dog Training Club; and a committee member of the Carbon County Sports Hall of Fame. Gary was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Ann; children, Lynn Fritzinger and her husband, Kevin of Easton, Pa., Gary Clemson and his wife, Stacey of West Penn, Pa., Amy Jo Mushrush and her husband, Eric of Allentown, Pa., Cheryl Upanavage and her husband, George of West Penn, and Gregg Clemson and his wife, Cristy of Tamaqua; 13 grandchildren; sisters, Sylvia Zizelmann and her husband, Jon of West Penn and Deborah Petrole and her husband, Jerry of West Penn; brother, Richard T. Clemson and his wife, Sandra of Tamaqua; 5 nieces; and 3 nephews.
