Frank T. Mulhall

Frank T. Mulhall

Frank T. Mulhall was the embodiment of a true American patriot. He enlisted in the Navy shortly before graduating high school in 1971, at a time when many Americans were protesting and dodging the draft. Frank was a Vietnam veteran, serving aboard USS Benjamin Stoddert DDG-22. Its crew became the last U.S. military servicemembers to leave Vietnam after the fall of Saigon. After his tour of duty in Nam, Frank never forgot what it was like to defend the innocents, with little recognition from many in our country. He made it a point to always thank any soldier for their service and sacrifice. He was a Paid Up for Life Member of The American Legion, with 23 years.
Frank was a charter member of Brothers Not Forgotten, a small group of Nam vets from all branches of the military and several states, whose motto is "Honoring all Vietnam veterans. You will never be forgotten".
In March 2016, Frank was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. In July, he was hospitalized for 35 days and had a PTSD episode while in the ICU, which resulted in him having a massive stroke. Frank fought a valiant fight and took the hill many a time, but his mission was accomplished, and he was called Home on Aug. 13, 2016.
Frank was raised as an only child. He always wanted to be in a big family, and he finally got his wish. On August 29, 2016, Frank T. Mulhall was laid to rest with full naval military honors at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, amidst 45,000 brothers and sisters in arms.
